The project partners met in Reggio Emilia on April 18 and 19 to review the progress of the actions undertaken and the next steps to take.
Manuel Pato, secretary general of the Federation of Municipalities of the Region of Murcia, leader of the project, opened the work session by congratulating the partners on the progress made.
Together we reviewed the actions undertaken for the rehabilitation of the Lorquí Cabezos, the Alcantarilla multimodal and cycling platform, the Nelson Mandela park in Molina de Segura, the "climate-friendly" parks in Reggio-Emilia, participation in the corporate social responsibility course for companies, co-financing companies and the communication of good practices to other municipalities, projects, citizens and students.
A very significant part of the visit was the meeting with a group of companies from Reggio Emilia that are part of the Life CityAdaP3 working group.
Tiziano Nilli from Ask / Fondazione REI, Chiara Nardo from Kohler, Simone Lusuardi from Coop L'Ovile, Francesca Preite from Til, Luca Ferri from Ristorante MangiAmore and Fabio Guglielmi from Confcooperative, told us about their companies’ corporate purpose and the sustainability activities that they are carrying out as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR). With them we began a dialogue, led by the Chair of Social Responsibility of the University of Murcia, one of the project partners, about the current meaning of CSR, the importance of public-private collaboration based on CSR for the local development and the new Sustainability Report introduced by EU Directive 2022/2464 that establishes rules for corporate sustainability reporting .
Public-private collaboration is considered the most innovative aspect of this project for urban adaptation to climate change, and it is expected that these actions will be the first of many in which this joint work takes place. To achieve this objective, we have developed a guide for climate change adaptation for businesses in the framework of csr, we are sharing a model collaboration agreement between companies and local entities and created the guide for local councils: on public-private collaboration schemes to finance adaptation measures to climate change based on the csr of local companies, all of which we hope, will also be useful to other companies and municipalities.
